Yoga in Aegina, Greece, June 14th-24th 2007, with Sarah and Jody

Oikia Karapanou is a beautiful old 19th century villa overlooking pistachio orchards and the Aegean Sea.  Simply furnished and ornamented with copious light and space, it is a perfect setting for you to enjoy your Yoga practise. A daily morning Asana class will be held as well as an early evening class where a range of subjects may be covered –technique, pair work, Pranayama, chanting, meditation and philosophy. The house, its gardens and nearby Aegean sea lend their own special energy to this holiday.  Sarah and Jody enjoy teaching where Yoga is accessible to all levels, and a space for relaxing, growing and developing is nurtured. There will be plenty of time in between classes to explore the island, visit the mainland or other islands, go into the town, swimming and sunbathing at the beach etc.  Each day can be as active or as laid back as you wish.

Jody has been practicing Yoga since 1991 and teaching since 1999 in West Sussex, and has run 5 previous holidays at Oikia, the last 3 with Sarah. In 2001 she went to India to study Astanga with BNS Iyengar in Mysore. Whilst there, she met Venkatesha, and returned 2 years later to train as an Atma Vikasa teacher with him and his wife Hema, and again in 2005 for further studies. She has also studied Viniyoga with Desikachar and completed an Astanga teacher training course with David Swenson.

Sarah began teaching in Yogashala, Santiago, Chile following a six month period in India studying Yoga therapy with her teacher there, Venkatesha.  Her first introduction was thorough Astanga yoga and in 2004 assisted Danny Paradise with his retreat in Thailand. She has also studied with many teachers of other styles of Yoga such as Iyengar, Viniyoga, Dynamic, Atma Vikasa and Satyananada.  Sarah practises vipassana meditation and has recently started to teach combined vipassana/yoga retreats with meditation teacher Steven Smith of Vipassana Hawaii. Sarah has been travelling, studying and teaching in Asia, Europe, the US and South America for the past 5 years.

The price for the 10 day holiday is £560 or if you’d like to take advantage of the ‘early bird’ price by booking and paying your deposit before Jan 31st the price is £500. This includes accommodation and all classes.  Everyone puts money into a kitty for sharing food costs at the house, in 2006 this worked out at about 5 Euros per day each. You will need to make your own travel arrangements –and we advise you to book flights early (suggest you try Easyjet) to get the best deals.  The nearest airport is Athens.
