Today life without the Internet is indiscernible. We have become dependent on the Internet for our daily routine, at home, or at the office or at work internet connection has become a part of our existence. With the proliferation of devices that run on the internet, to get the best router for most people is the need for faster and efficient internet connection has become a necessity than a luxury.
Wireless internet is like electricity at this point — you only notice it exists when it stops working. Then you panic. But you don’t need to! You can fix it yourself with a few, simple tips.
Sometimes you run into an issue with one particular device. It’s probably just a momentary issue. Try turning off the Wi-Fi on your device, then re-enabling it. If that doesn’t work, do the same with your router by unplugging it and then plugging it back in 30 seconds later.
When you are experiencing problems with your internet connection, check your devices or the Wi-Fi router instead of calling the service provider or the cable company. The fault may be at your end, so the easy way is to check things at your end.

You should check if Wi-Fi button is turned on
Many devices come with the Wi-Fi on/off button. So make sure to check if the button is pressed ON. You can find the button on the side of your device with the Wi-Fi router icon. Press once and the device might detect the signal and get connected.
Try Rebooting the device or the whole router
If the device is facing Wi-Fi issues, reboot the device or the router or both. This helps in detecting the signal and fixing the signal or software problem. Even after rebooting the problem still persists, pull out the plug of the router and reinsert after about 30 seconds. This should help in correcting the problem.
Try switch off the power of your equipment
If you are working and the internet connection goes off, switch off the equipment you are using starting from your laptop, then the router and lastly the modem. Check if all the wires and ports are correctly inserted and then restart your equipment in the reverse order, i.e. the modem, the router and then the laptop. But make sure that each device is fully on before starting the next device.

If the device is still not detecting the signal, restore the factory settings of your router by pressing the reset button for a few seconds. The settings will go back to the starting stage and you will be able to detect Wi-Fi signal. The only drawback is that you will lose the settings and will have to reconfigure your modem and router.

Make sure to secure your Wi-Fi network
Protect your Wi-Fi network with a strong password that other cannot easily crack. If the password is not strong or difficult enough others might mooch off your internet connection, hence resulting in slow internet speed and also theft of your personal data by the hackers. You could also set the Service Set Identifier (SSID) broadcasting option to off so that your internet connection is not visible to others in the first place.
Keep up to date your router
Keep updating your router periodically to make it more efficient and the Wi-Fi work at a better speed. Keep track of the updates on the router’s firmware and free updates.
Shift the router’s channel
If your router is set on a channel that tends to get congested, shift it to other channels that are less likely to get congested and make your Wi-Fi network stronger and faster.
Replacing the router with a new one
Using the same old router that you have been using for years might save you some money but will surely slow down the internet speed. So, if the router is old or damaged, it is time to get a new one.

Try changing the location of the router
Location of your router has a direct effect on the signal strength that your device receives. So place your router at the center of your home, in an open setting, rather than placing them in cupboards or fancy drawers that can hinder the signal transmission. Also, keep in mind to place the router at least 10 feet away from other devices like the microwave or cordless phones or the baby monitors, which might interrupt the signal transmission.
Extend the signal using the extender
The Wi-Fi extender, often called the Repeater, can be used to increase the mobility and strength of the signal. If you want to use the Wi-Fi connection for a little longer distance, the Extenders are the best option.
