I have just returned from another great holiday with Yoga Breaks in Spain. The fact that this was my 5th holiday with them speaks volumes! Let me try and tell you why for me - and I know for many others - Yoga Breaks in Spain gets it so right.
Firstly the yoga. Nicole is an inspiring teacher, her passion for yoga shines through. She is so encouraging and develops everyone’s practice during their holiday. Everyone I know came home enthused about their practise no matter what level they were.
I have visited both Yoga Breaks in Spain locations. One a beautiful old town-house in Denia and the other, a small country-house hotel in Altea. Both have excellent accommodation, delicious food, a great space for yoga and a short walk into town. I’ve been mountain biking, hiking, had massages and had a colour consultation during the holidays all of which were carried out by complete professionals who really care about their customers.
There is now such a wide choice of yoga holidays, I know it is difficult to choose. However what I believe sets Yoga Breaks in Spain apart are its’ two greatest assets - Nicole and Gary – who own the company and get involved in every single holiday. Everyone I have met on my holidays agree. Gary & Nicole are warm, welcoming, patient and kind. They go to great lengths to ensure everyone is looked after and has a great holiday and this is what makes the holidays such a good experience.
I would say for me going on a Yoga Breaks in Spain holiday is always ‘just what the doctor ordered.’ Every time I have come back, refreshed, rebalanced and rejuvenated and I will definitely be going back again!

After a year of working flat out, I booked myself an October Yoga Break in Spain I’ve been on 4 of their breaks in as many years, visiting both their locations in the Alicante area, one by the sea and the other in the countryside.
This October holiday was held in the countryside at a lovely hotel with mountain & sea views, close by to the white-washed old town of Altea.
I was looking forward to a good yoga practice, twice a day (about 3 hours), with walks and supplementary therapies in-between and a chance to have a nap or be sociable.
Yoga Breaks in Spain keep the groups at a reasonable size – maximum 12 guests - which works exceptionally well for the yoga practice area and ensures that everyone gets Nicole’s - the teacher - attention. Nicole exemplifies skill and experience in making her teaching accessible and relevant to all levels from beginners to the regular practitioners and the twice daily sessions (hatha and vinyasa flow influenced) are eagerly anticipated. I have returned time and again because Nicole develops her own practice and this is reflected in the varied practice that she teaches so there is no room for getting bored or complacent.
Gary is in charge of the guided walks and meditation. He too quite naturally provides a well developed sense of what the guests need for a complete well being experience.
The yoga locations are thoughtfully chosen and full of local character and style, the staff are welcoming and professional. The mealtimes are a delight and cater for the yoga minded bodies and souls and there are a couple of evenings for dining out in the nearby town to make for a varied holiday. I returned home with a fresh face and a spring in my step and will be booking my next Yoga Break in Spain for next Spring very soon.

After a comfortable and pleasant car drive of aprox. 1 hour and 15 min from Alicante to Denia, stepping into Hotel Chamarel was everything and more than I expected. Yes, the pictures and description on the site were promising. However, one must feel this energy for themselves! This is fantastic family hotel, with unique rooms and beautiful art, fabulous dinners by the head chef, and a cute hotel cat by the name of Canela.
After ample time for relax from the journey, there was a welcome meeting with the yoga teacher Nicole Stone & the other 8 holiday guests. This was a good introduction and great way to get acquainted with the rest of the group.
The first yoga class started at 18:00 on our arrival day. After that a wonderful vegetarian dinner by head chef David (co-owner of the hotel with his wife Mila). The next day we did two yoga classes (before breakfast & dinner) and a guided walk along the coast. Great sights and warm weather. There is always a breeze, so the sunny weather is quite manageable. However, high SPF and a hat are strongly advised.
The following three days next to the twice daily yoga classes, there was enough leisure time, therapies & activities to occupy our time. The aromatherapy workshop with Valerie was very informative and fun – some theory, after that lots of smelling and mixing. Also, you can make your own aromatherapy products. You get a hand reflexology massage class as well.
There was a great meditation workshop by Gary where you get samples of four types of meditations. Very interesting. I never knew there was so much in a raisin…
On the last evening we had a fun dinner outside the hotel in town. Dénia is so lively Spanish, warm and peaceful at the same time!
Yoga classes were both practical and informative. The teacher checks the mood and energy of the group and is flexible to adjust the program. Also, focus is not only on the asanas (physical practice), but also on aspects such as pranayama (breathing) and gunas (energy states) in order to gain a more in-depth knowledge and holistic view on yoga. Additional variety is offered by having another yoga teacher teach some of the classes.
