Yoga in Turkey with Jo Shrimpton
In June I attended a Yoga/ Pilates and Meditation retreat at Paradise bay in Turkey organised by Jo Shrimpton.
The retreat was simply wonderful set in breath taking surroundings. We started with a morning seated meditation and pranayama (breathing exercises) session, followed by a long, dynamic yoga practice. In the afternoon, the group met again for a more gentle yoga practice which finished just on time to watch Turkey’s magical sunset.
Attendance at classes was always optional; everyone was free to do as they please, as long as it didn’t distract the other students.
The afternoons were divine, relaxing by the glorious sea water that surrounds the venue. We were also given options of boat and market trips, visits to nearby towns and villages and walks (or for those more active daily accompanied runs) around the country side surrounding the resort.
There was a day off from yoga so that you could sample some of the many other delights of Turkey and two light Pilates sessions offered.
The owners are passionate cooks, the food is good with vegetarian options and a combination of fish, meat, Japanese infused and traditional Turkish dishes offered!
The retreat itself brought an eclectic mix of people which made the retreat even more interesting.I would highly recommend this to anyone searching total relaxation.
